°Ä²Ê¿ª½±, health experts file amicus brief supporting eviction moratorium during COVID-19
The °Ä²Ê¿ª½± (°Ä²Ê¿ª½±) today joined more than 20 medical associations and experts in filing an in Brown vs. Azar, supporting the Center for Disease Control’s eviction moratorium during the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
The following statement is by Emily Early, senior staff attorney for °Ä²Ê¿ª½±â€™s Economic Justice Project:
“COVID-19 has presented unprecedented health and economic challenges, exacerbating existing housing insecurity for many Americans, particularly in Black and Brown communities. People have lost their jobs; they’ve cared for and educated children in the wake of school closures; they’ve battled the virus; they’ve lost loved ones to COVID-19.Â
“The CDC’s eviction moratorium ensures housing security, creating stability for families in this especially stressful time and protecting public health and the health of individuals who would otherwise face transiency and be more susceptible to catching or spreading the deadly virus.â€
