°Ä²Ê¿ª½± statement on Congressional Budget Office report on American Health Care Act
The recent analysis by the Congressional Budget Office confirms what we already knew: The plan to replace the Affordable Care Act will drastically reduce the number of people with health insurance in our country. This bill will have life-threatening consequences for the poor as it slashes $880 billion in funding from Medicaid.
In all, the CBO estimates that the plan would cause 24 million people to lose health care coverage by 2026. Many more will be left out of the health care system and unable to afford treatment. They include the most vulnerable in our nation — children, people with disabilities and chronic health conditions, and the poor.
It should be clear that under the American Health Care Act, these Americans will have no place to turn for health care.
